How to find the best Myrtle Beach rental experience:

Sticking to your rental budget:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal SC. To find the best value, consider changing your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer great weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic.
  • The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Booking your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
  • Owners sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines contain deals for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

How to select the best rental:

  • Choose a designated group leader, choose your trip dates, and select a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Luxury Ocean Front 3 Bedroom, 18th Floor at Bayview Resort, Myrtle Beach has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before you reserve your home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
  • Visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly rental. Request details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
  • Note any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if a dispute arises.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your quiet neighborhood. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
  • When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to stimulate more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
