Tips for getting the best rental home experience:
Finding your perfect rental:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Reserving your rental six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Summer is the most expensive season in the Myrtle Beach area. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property managers typically offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guides which include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to choose and book your prefectvacation home:
- Start by having your group commit to trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. 10th-floor ocean-view studio with WiFi, AC, pool & hot tub - snowbird-friendly has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before you book the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out what is best for your vacation.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the host about pet restrictions before booking.
- Visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
Tips for your stay:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Make a record of any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if damages are assessed.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a wonderful vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
