Tips to get the perfect Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
Finding your best deal:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in the Myrtle Beach area. Book your rental home in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property managers typically offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, travel guides contain discounts for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Filter your rental search:
- Begin by selecting your the best vacation week and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration you need. 12th-floor ocean-view studio with pool, hot tub, AC & WiFi - dog-friendly has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available online. If not, reach out to the property management company before reserving the rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You will need to determine which bed configuration is suitable for your family.
- Does your family require particular amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
- Some rentals allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
Some things to know before you go:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- To make certain that damages are not linked to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon check in. Make contact with the host right away to record any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would back home.
- When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a excellent stay? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
