Tricks and tips to get the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
Finding the best rental home value:
- The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- To book the most suitable rental for your budget, we recommend booking in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Myrtle Beach restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites often offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines have deals for nearby tours and attractions.
Narrow your Search:
- Select your vacation week and maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. 12th-floor ocean-view studio with pool, hot tub, WiFi & hot tub - snowbird-friendly has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before booking the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what is suitable for your vacation group.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you will need a property that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Advice for your stay:
- Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- To ensure that damages are not linked to your stay, inspect the property for any problem areas when you arrive. Speak to the host right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible source for finding the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Just before checking out, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a terrific stay? Most rental managers make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
