Tips to get the perfect rental home experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the best value, try shifting your trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group.
- Property management companies often offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Often, property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to choose the best vacation home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Choose a designated group leader, select your trip dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. 18th-floor, partial ocean-view, snowbird condo with pool, hot tub, & W\/D has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the property management company before booking your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or charges applied to your contract.
- If there's a particular Myrtle Beach beach you are enamored with, keep an eye out for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
Tips to have a great stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many concerns.
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Record any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on good feedback to propel more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
