Rental home booking tips:
When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental home & When to go:
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal SC. To get the best value, shift your family's Myrtle Beach vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warm weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Property management companies sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
- Property managers usually offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides contain offers and deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Choosing the perfect rental:
- Choose a designated group leader, choose your trip dates, and choose a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. 2 bdrm, ocean view near Family Kingdom w\/ pool, hot tub, tennis court, balcony! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before booking your rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to work out what is suitable for your vacation.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or charges might be applied to your contract.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach attraction you long to visit, search for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
Some things to know before you go:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of concerns.
- Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
- Document any issues with the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if damages are assessed.
- Respect your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a wonderful stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
