How to find the best vacation rental experience:

Sticking to a rental home budget:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. Book your rental in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
  • Some property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides which will include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Filter your search:

  • Select your vacation dates and maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. 2 bed, 2 bath Oceanfront! -Ocean's One Resort 1806 has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking pages. If not, call the property owner before you book your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to work out what configuration is suitable for your vacation.
  • Visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or might be applied to your contract.

More considerations:

  • Be sure you get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
  • Document any damages to the property at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute arises.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your quiet neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let thieves spoil your holiday.
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a wonderful stay? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
