Strategies to get the best vacation home experience:
Sticking to your rental budget:
- Summer months are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the largest rental for your budget, we suggest booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Booking your rental home up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- Some property management companies offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides which will include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Narrow your Search:
- Choose your dates and max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. 2 Bedroom overlooking the salt Marsh with an easy walk to the beach has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property management company before you book the home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- Some rentals allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.
Considerations for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- To make sure that damages are not linked to your family's stay, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. Get in touch with the host immediately to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a terrific time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
