How to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • The sooner you can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
  • To book the largest vacation home within your budget, we recommend booking in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Some hosts offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies typically offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Finding the best vacation home:

  • Select your vacation week and budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. 2 Bedroom overlooking the salt Marsh with an easy walk to the beach has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before reserving the rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
  • If there's a certain Myrtle Beach attraction you simply love, look for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of issues.
  • Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
  • Document any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if there is a dispute.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected everything. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and look for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, take video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a fantastic vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
