How to find the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Getting the most from your spending budget:
- Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of SC. Booking your vacation rental in Spring or Fall is a great way to save on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes.
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Many rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Begin by choosing the best vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group needs. 2nd-floor Renovated Oceanfront condo with hot tubs, pools, gym, lazy river has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property manager before reserving your home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what is suitable for your family.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- At Check-in, note any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
- At departure, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a great time? Most rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
