Our top Vacation rental tips:
Sticking to a spending plan:
- The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation property up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- To find the best value, change your family's Myrtle Beach trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warm weather, , and reduced traffic.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides have coupons for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- First, have your family choose trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. 3 bedroom 2 Bath, Unit 521, Unobstructed Ocean View, water park has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking pages. Otherwise, call the host before you book the rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out what configuration is right for your vacation.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or costs could be applied to your invoice.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach beach you are crazy about, search for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
More tips for your stay:
- Get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many problems.
- Lock your rental home while you are away. Keep your property safe!
- Document any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if a dispute is filed.
- Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a great stay? Most rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
