Tips to get the optimal vacation rental experience:
When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental home & When to go:
- Summer months are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best value, shift your vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic.
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Booking your rental home 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- Some property management companies offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines have deals for nearby shops and restaurants.
How to choose and book the perfectrental home:
- Select a group lead, select your trip dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. 3br Deluxe Condo Family Fun on Myrtle Beach! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly available online. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Is your group looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
- Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.
Advice for a great stay:
- Add the property manager's information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- To ensure that damages aren't linked to your stay, record any problem areas upon check in. Speak to the host immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your home life. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a terrific stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
