Getting the best Myrtle Beach rental experience:
When to book a Myrtle Beach rental home & When to go:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. Book your rental home in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Some property management companies offer special rates for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines contain deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Begin by selecting vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. 5th Floor Oceanfront Snowbird Friendly Studio w\/ AC, WiFi, Pool\/Hot Tub has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is generally available online. If they are not listed, reach out to the property owner before reserving the home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you will need a pet-friendly rental. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a particular Myrtle Beach destination you long to visit, browse properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
Considerations for your stay:
- Get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few concerns.
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect your property!
- Note any damages to the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on great reviews to propel future reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
