Tips and Tricks to get the best rental experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is high season in Myrtle Beach. Booking your Myrtle Beach vacation rental in Fall or Spring months is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- Some property managers offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Often, rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning and choosing the perfect Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Start by having your family choose trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. 6th-floor oceanfront condo with WiFi, pool, hot tub & AC - snowbird-friendly has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before you reserve your rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If your family is bringing pets, you will need a pet-friendly rental. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Is your family looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
More tips for your visit:
- Add the property manager's contact information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many problems.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would at home.
- To make certain damages aren't attributed to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas during check in. text the rental manager right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a wonderful vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
