Strategies to get the very best vacation property experience:
When to visit & When to book:
- Summer months are high season in Myrtle Beach. Booking in Spring or Fall is a good way to save on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property managers typically offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Often, property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines which include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Narrow your Search:
- To start, have your family select date ranges and a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. 7th-floor ocean-view studio with gym, pool, hot tub, AC - snowbird-friendly has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available online. If not, email the property owner before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or charges might be applied to your contract.
Additional considerations:
- Put the host's information in your smartphone.
- Upon check-in, document any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of concerns.
- Respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on good reviews to propel future reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
