Myrtle Beach vacation rental tips:
When to book & When to go:
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. Reserve your Myrtle Beach rental property in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines contain deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Make a plan and pick the perfectrental home:
- Start by choosing your the best vacation week and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. A311 at the Myrtle Beach Resort: Peaceful Beachside Retreat has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible online. If they are not listed, email the host before you reserve your home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish which bed configuration is right for your family.
- Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Are you visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
More tips for your visit:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your . We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of problems.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- During check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a terrific vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
