Our top Myrtle Beach rental home tips and tricks:
How to get the best value:
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Book your Myrtle Beach vacation in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property management companies often offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Many management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guides which will include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to pick the best vacation home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Start by selecting your vacation dates and a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Amazing Direct Ocean Views Caravelle Resort - Sleeps 8 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before booking your home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers charge additional pet fees.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach attraction you long to visit, search for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Record any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if a dispute arises.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- At departure, take a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a great stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
