Tricks and tips for getting the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Finding your perfect vacation home:
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Booking a rental in the Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Many rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines that include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to choose and book a perfectvacation home:
- To start, have your family select trip dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Beautiful beachfront condo with pool, hot tub, beach access, & washer\/dryer has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before you reserve the property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or could be applied to your contract.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
More considerations:
- Get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let burglars spoil your vacation.
- Upon check-in, note any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a fantastic stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
