Tips and Tricks to get the optimal Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Sticking to your spending plan:
- Booking your vacation rental in Fall or Spring is a great way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property management companies offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides contain discounts for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Selecting the best vacation rental in the Myrtle Beach area:
- To start, have your family select a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. @@ Beautiful OCEAN Front and Ocean views...steps to the Beach! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available online. If not, reach out to the property management company before you reserve your rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what configuration is suitable for your group.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before booking
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a property that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property owners charge additional pet fees.
During your stay:
- Add the host's contact information to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To ensure that no damages are linked to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas when you arrive. text the host immediately to relay any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of concerns.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on great reviews to compel new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
