Myrtle Beach rental property booking tips and tricks:
Getting the best value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. To get the best value, consider shifting your family's Myrtle Beach vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some owners offer special rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Property managers often offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides have discounts for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Start by selecting your vacation dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Charming condo in the center of Myrtle Beach has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the host before booking the home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine what bed configuration is best for your group.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable breeds and types before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
- During arrival, record any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible resource to find the best local scenic spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your vacation home while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- Leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to drive new reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
