Strategies to get the optimal rental home experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Reserve your rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines which include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Make a plan and pick a perfect Myrtle Beach rental:
- First, have your group agree to dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Charming condo in the center of Myrtle Beach has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible online. If they are not listed, call the property management company before booking the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is right for your vacation group.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or costs may be applied to your agreement.
- If there's a particular Myrtle Beach beach you are crazy about, keep an eye out for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
Have a fantastic stay:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many issues.
- Lock your vacation home while you are out. Keep your property safe!
- Upon check-in, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at departure. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a excellent vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
