Getting the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:

Get the best rental home value:

  • To find the best value, try changing your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides have deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Make a plan and pick your Myrtle Beach rental:

  • To start, have your group agree to a vacation week and a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your family needs. Cloud 9-er has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before reserving your home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out what configuration is suitable for your trip.
  • If there's an individual Myrtle Beach destination you love, keep an eye out for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or costs might be applied to your invoice.

More considerations:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
  • At Check-in, record any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your home life. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on good ratings to stimulate new bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
