Tricks and tips for getting the best Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
Getting the most from your spending budget:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best value, consider shifting your vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Some property management companies offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Many rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guides which often include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Filter your rental search:
- Start by having your family agree to a vacation week and a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Cozy 3 bedroom 2 bath in Award Winning Ocean Lakes Family Campground!!!!!!!!!!!! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the host before booking your home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Some properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
Advice for a smooth stay:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many issues.
- Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let thieves spoil your vacation.
- To make certain damages are not linked to your visit, make note of any problem areas during check in. message the property manager right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
