Getting the best vacation rental experience:
When to visit Myrtle Beach & When to book:
- To get the best value, consider changing your family's Myrtle Beach vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Owners sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies typically offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines contain coupons for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
How to select the perfect rental home:
- Start by selecting potential vacation weeks and a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. 401 Direct Oceanfront 2 bedroom\/2 bath condo has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available online. If they are not listed, contact the property management company before booking the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
- Are you visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
- Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
Know before you go:
- Add the property manager's contact information to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Make a record of any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if a dispute arises.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on great reviews to drive new bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
