Strategies to get the very best vacation rental experience:
Finding your perfect rental:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation rental up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Summer months are high season in Myrtle Beach. Booking in the Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines have coupons for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Narrow your rental Search:
- First and foremost, have your family decide on vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. BEACH VACATION 1 has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible online. If they are not listed, call the property manager before booking the vacation home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or costs may be applied to your contract.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
Additional considerations:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your phone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of concerns.
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would back home.
- Record any damages to the property at check in, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- On check-out day, take a walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
