Strategies to get the best vacation property experience:
Get the most from your budget:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal SC. Reserve your rental property in Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines have deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Filter your search:
- Choose your dates and spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Eighth-Floor Oceanfront Escape with AC & W\/D- Snowbird Friendly has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly available online. If they are not listed, call the property owner before reserving your rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
- Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.
Additional considerations:
- Add the property manager's information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Document any issues with the property at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are assessed.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to drive future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
