Finding the best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
Getting the most from your budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. To get the best value, shift your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
- The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked early. Reserving your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Property managers usually offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides have deals for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Planning, selecting, and booking your prefectrental home:
- Start by having your family agree to the best dates and a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Winter Rates! Grand Oceanfront 1Br Suite! Dogs OK! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available online. If they are not listed, email the property manager before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out what is best for your vacation family.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach beach you love, look for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.
Some things to know before you go:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- Upon arrival, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of concerns.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to stimulate more reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will will be grateful for your experience find their best vacation home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
