Getting the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
When to book a Myrtle Beach rental home & When to go:
- The earlier you can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked early. Reserving your vacation home six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- June, July, and August are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking your vacation rental in the Spring or Fall is a great way to save on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Hosts sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines contain money saving offers on local accommodations, tours and attractions.
How to choose the best rental in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Select your vacation week and spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Heated pools and direct oceanfront at Coral Beach has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly property. Get information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
Some things to know before you go:
- Be sure you get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your . Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of difficulties.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Record any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great resource to find the best local attractions.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a fantastic time? Many rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
