Our top Vacation rental booking tips and tricks:
When to visit & When to book:
- Summer months are high season in Myrtle Beach. To find the best rental for your budget, we suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at Myrtle Beach restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property managers frequently offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Often, rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines which often include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Selecting the perfect vacation rental in Myrtle Beach:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your vacation dates, and select a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Marriott's Ocean Watch Villas at Grande Dunes, South Carolina, 2 Bedroom Suite has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property manager before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine which bed configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
- Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly rental. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
Tips for a great stay:
- Get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
- To make sure damages are not linked to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas upon your arrival. Call the rental manager immediately to record any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few issues.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
- Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a fantastic time? Most rental managers make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
