Tricks and tips to get the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
When to visit & When to book:
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- To find the best value, shift your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Property management companies sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers often offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines contain deals for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Begin by choosing a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Myrtle Beach Mecca, HEATED private pool, by the beach has 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available online. Otherwise, call the property owner before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is suitable for your trip.
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Is your family looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.

- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your home life. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to drive future bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
