How to find the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Get the best rental value:
- The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Summer is the most expensive season in Myrtle Beach. To get the best value, shift your trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites usually offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines contain coupons for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Make a plan and choose the best Myrtle Beach rental:
- Start by having your family commit to vacation dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Myrtle Beach Resort Unit 4111 - Ideal Beach Getaway has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is often available online. If they are not listed, email the property manager before booking the rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
- Some properties allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask your host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach beach you are enamored with, browse properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
More considerations for your visit:
- Add the property manager's contact info to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let thieves ruin your holiday.
- Document any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if there is a dispute.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a great stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
