Myrtle Beach vacation rental booking tips:
Finding your perfect vacation home:
- Summer time is high season in Myrtle Beach. To get the most suitable rental home for your budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts and property managers offer rate reductions for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides contain coupons for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
How to choose the perfect vacation home in Myrtle Beach:
- Begin by selecting a vacation week and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Ocean Forest Villas Unit C301 - Ocean view has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often available online. If not, reach out to the property manager before you reserve your rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what is best for your vacation group.
- Looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or costs might be applied to your contract.
Additional considerations:
- Be sure you get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
- At Check-in, document any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few problems.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a great time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
