How to find the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Find your best deal:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. Reserve your vacation home in Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some owners offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Booking websites often offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides that include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Select a designated group leader, select your dates, and select a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. A Place at the Beach, Phase III, Building III, Unit 3 A . Ocean\/ Marsh views has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the host before you book the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation.
- Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
- Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.
More considerations:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
- Make a record of any issues with the property at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of concerns.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
- Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property one final time and scan for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a wonderful stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
