Strategies for getting the best vacation home experience:
Getting the most from your rental budget:
- Summer is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best value, consider changing your family's Myrtle Beach vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Many property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which will include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning and picking the rightrental home:
- First and foremost, have your family choose the best dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Beautiful Newly Renovated Condo 2 Bedroom 2 Bath \nOcean Forest Villas E306 has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available online. If not, email the property management company before you book the rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what is best for your vacation family.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or costs may be applied to your invoice.
Tips for your stay:
- Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- During check-in, record any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many concerns.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
- Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to compel future reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
