Our top Rental home tips:
When to book a Myrtle Beach rental & When to go:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal SC. Book your Myrtle Beach rental home in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property managers typically offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Many property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides which often include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Planning, selecting, and booking your prefect Myrtle Beach rental home:
- To start, have your group select vacation dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Ocean Lakes - Site MH86B Complimentary Golf Cart & Pet Friendly w\/ Ramp! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible online. Otherwise, call the property management company before you book your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is optimal for your trip.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or costs may be applied to your contract.
- Looking for particular amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
More considerations for your visit:
- Be sure you get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental while you're away. Keep your property safe!
- Record any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if a dispute is filed.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a terrific vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
