Tricks and tips to get the very best vacation property experience:
Getting the most from your rental home budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier you can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Reserving your rental 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- Some property management companies offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Booking websites typically offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines have deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- To start, have your family commit to trip dates and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Ocean Lakes Site V-7 3Bdrm\/2bath sleeps 7, Limo cart available has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the property management company before you reserve the property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach destination you are enamored with, search for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
- Some properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.
Some things to know before you go:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your . We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make sure damages are not attributed to your visit, inspect for any problem areas during arrival. Contact the host immediately to record your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many concerns.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great source for finding the best local beaches.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a excellent stay? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
