Tips and Tricks to get the very best vacation property experience:
When to visit & When to reserve a rental home:
- Summer is high season in Myrtle Beach. To find the best vacation home within budget, we suggest booking in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental property six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property managers typically offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides contain money saving offers on local accommodations and attractions.
Planning, selecting, and booking yourrental:
- Start by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Ocean View King Suite at Oceanfront Resort + Onsite Pool has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible on booking websites. If not, email or call the host before you book your rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what bed configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
- Are you visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or could be applied to your invoice.
More considerations:
- We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
- Document any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if a dispute is filed.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your peaceful home life. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would've not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on great feedback to drive future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
