How to find the best Myrtle Beach rental experience:
When to book & When to go:
- The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental property up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- Reserve your vacation home in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Owners sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites often offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines have discounts for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
How to select the best rental:
- Select your vacation dates and max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Ocean View King Suite at Oceanfront Resort + Onsite Pool has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before booking the property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You will need to work out what is suitable for your vacation family.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask your host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Advice for your stay:
- We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many problems.
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would back home.
- To make sure that no damages are linked to your visit, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. Speak to the host immediately to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a wonderful stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
