How to find the best rental home experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Booking your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property management companies usually offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines have deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Filter your rental search:
- Start by having your group decide on the best dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Ocean Views on Lake Magnolia has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available online. Otherwise, contact the property management company before you book your home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine what is best for your group.
- Some rentals allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Know before you go:
- Store the owner's information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would back home.
- Note any damages to the property at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute is filed.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- On check-out day, take a final walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to drive more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
