Tips and Tricks to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Finding the best value:
- The earlier you can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Reserving your rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. To book the largest rental within budget, we recommend reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at popular Myrtle Beach attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites typically offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Many management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guides which include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- First and foremost, have your family choose date ranges and a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Ocean Views on Lake Magnolia has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before reserving the property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is right for your group.
- If your family is bringing pets, search for a pet-friendly property. Get details on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, hosts charge additional pet fees.
- Is your group looking for specific amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Know before you go:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of concerns.
- Lock your rental while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Upon arrival, record any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Be respectful. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected everything. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on good reviews to drive new reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
