Tips and Tricks to get the best rental home experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- Summertime is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts offer discounts for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines contain deals for local accommodations and attractions.
How to select the perfect rental home:
- Choose vacation week and maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Oceanfront! Amenities galore! 1 bedroom condo at Caravelle Resort has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is usually available on booking websites. If not, reach out to the property management company before you book the property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Looking for unique amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or might be applied to your contract.
Some things to know before you go:
- Add the host's contact info to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To make sure damages are not linked to your stay, make a record of any problem areas during check in. E-mail the rental manager immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let burglars spoil your vacation.
- Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything at check-out. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave feedback! Hosts rely on good ratings to inspire new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
