Strategies to get the perfect vacation home experience:
Finding your best deal:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental property six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Summer is high season in Myrtle Beach. Booking your vacation home in the Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property management companies often offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines have coupons for nearby tours and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Start by having your family agree to the best dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Oceanfront Efficiency Tides 508 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available online. If they are not listed, call the property manager before booking the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or charges could be applied to your agreement.
- Are you looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
Tips for a wonderful stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many concerns.
- Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- During check-in, record any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a great vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
