Myrtle Beach rental home tips:
Money saving strategies:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner your group can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your vacation property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Summer is the most expensive season in coastal SC. To get the best value, shift your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Property management companies sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides contain deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Select your vacation week and maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Oceanfront Efficiency Tides 508 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is usually available online. If they are not listed, call the host before you book the rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you will need a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
During your stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of difficulties.
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
- Upon check-in, note any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a terrific vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
