Tips to get the best vacation property experience:
When to go & When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in the Myrtle Beach area. Reserve your rental in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Some owners offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites usually offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Choosing the perfect rental in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Begin by selecting the best vacation week and a max budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Oceanfront! Indoor Pool! Snowbirds Welcome! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is generally available online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before reserving your rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine what is suitable for your vacation.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or might be applied to your invoice.
- If there's a particular Myrtle Beach attraction you crave, search for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
More considerations:
- We recommend storing the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- At Check-in, note any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific resource to find the best local attractions.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a great time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
