Our top Rental home booking tips:
Sticking to your budget:
- The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked early. Reserving your rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- To get the best value, try changing your family's Myrtle Beach vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warm weather, , and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites usually offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines have deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Choosing and booking the right Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Select dates and maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. OCEANFRONT-King Bed-Comfortable-Home-Kitchen-Beach-Million Dollar View-WiFi has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before you reserve your rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers charge additional pet fees.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
More tips for your visit:
- Store the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks spoil your holiday.
- During check-in, make note of any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed everything at check-out. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a terrific time? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
