Myrtle Beach vacation rental tips:
Getting the best value:
- Reserve your Myrtle Beach rental property in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Booking your rental up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites usually offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which often include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Selecting the best rental home in Myrtle Beach:
- Select a group lead, choose your vacation dates, and choose a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. A427 at The Myrtle Beach Resort: Oceanview Oasis has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the property owner before reserving your home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine what configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
- Some properties allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the host about pet restrictions before booking.
More tips for your visit:
- Add the property manager's information to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Document any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if there is a dispute.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor. Often, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to confirm you've collected everything. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a terrific vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
