Strategies to get the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Sticking to your budget:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- To find the best value, consider shifting your vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Hosts sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Many property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides that include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Choosing the best vacation home:

- Some properties allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.

- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
