Tips to get the best Myrtle Beach rental experience:
When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental & When to go:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To get the largest rental home within your budget, we recommend reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
- Booking websites typically offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides contain money saving offers on local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Choosing and booking your prefectrental:
- Begin by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Owners favorite Luxury Family Suite. has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available online. If not, reach out to the property manager before reserving your rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what is optimal for your vacation group.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach beach you are crazy about, keep an eye out for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
- If your family is traveling with pets, you will need a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
Considerations for your stay:
- Add the owner's contact info to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Note any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if there is a dispute.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
- Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a excellent time? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
