Strategies to get the best vacation property experience:
When to book a Myrtle Beach rental home & When to go:
- Summertime is high season in Myrtle Beach. Booking your Myrtle Beach vacation home in Fall or Spring months is an excellent way to save on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some owners offer special rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines contain offers and deals for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Selecting the perfect vacation home in Myrtle Beach:
- Select vacation week and max budget.
- Oceanfront King Suite has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible on booking websites. If not, email the property owner before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
- If there's a particular Myrtle Beach attraction you crave, browse homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or costs could be applied to your contract.
More considerations:
- Get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your . We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
- Document any damages to the property at check in, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your life at home. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would back home.
- At departure, complete a walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Leave feedback! Hosts rely on great ratings to stimulate more reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your review find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
