Tips to get the best rental experience:
Getting the most from your rental home budget:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in the Myrtle Beach area. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Some property management companies offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites often offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides have discounts for nearby tours and attractions.
Planning, picking, and booking your prefect Myrtle Beach rental:
- To start, have your group choose vacation dates and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. The Palace 505 ocean view condo has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before you book the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine what is right for your family.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach attraction you are enamored with, keep an eye out for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
More considerations:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many concerns.
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would at home.
- During arrival, note any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Be respectful. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a wonderful stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
