Tips and Tricks to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Sticking to your budget:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal SC. Booking your Myrtle Beach vacation rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our best tip for saving money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Often, management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides which will include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning, selecting, and booking yourrental home:
- Select a group leader, choose your trip dates, and choose a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Newly Updated, Direct Oceanfront and Heated Pools has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before booking your home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If there's a particular Myrtle Beach beach you are crazy about, search for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, search for a rental that allows animals. Get details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
Additional considerations:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
- During check-in, record any issues with the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
- Be respectful. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect your property!
- Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on great ratings to inspire future bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
