Strategies to get the very best vacation rental experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Summer time is high season in Myrtle Beach. Reserve your rental property in the Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some owners offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Property managers usually offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines have deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Select a designated group leader, select your trip dates, and select a budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. We would love to share our second home with your family for a beach vacation! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before you book the rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out which bed configuration is best for your trip.
- Is your group looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask your host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- Put the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Upon arrival, record any damages to the property and immediately contact the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers disrupting your life at home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let thieves ruin your holiday.
- Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a great stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
