Rental home booking tips and tricks:
Sticking to your spending plan:
- June, July, and August are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best value, try shifting your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation property 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Some hosts and property managers offer rate reductions for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies often offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, travel guides have money saving offers on nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
How to select the perfect vacation rental in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Select your dates and maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Ocean Lakes Beach Cottage Now Booking for 2025! Steps to the Ocean! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available online. Otherwise, email or call the host before you book the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You will need to work out what bed configuration is suitable for your vacation.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly rental. Get information on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
Some things to know before you go:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- Upon arrival, record any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your vacation home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a great stay? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
