Tips and Tricks for getting the best Myrtle Beach rental experience:
When to book a Myrtle Beach rental home & When to go:
- Summer is high season in Myrtle Beach. To book the best rental home within budget, we strongly suggest booking in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your rental property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Some hosts offer discounts for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites often offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides contain offers and deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Start by selecting your trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Dazzling Gateway OF 3BR Condo 6th Floor has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible online. If not, email the property management company before booking the rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what is right for your vacation family.
- Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
- If your family is vacationing with pets, search for a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
More considerations for your visit:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your smartphone.
- At Check-in, record any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your quiet neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would at home.
- Just before checking out, take a walk-through to confirm you didn't forget anything. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a terrific stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
