Tips to get the optimal vacation home experience:
When to go & When to book:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring months is our best tip for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes.
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some owners offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies often offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides contain discounts for local accommodations and attractions.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Choose vacation week and max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Extravagance and Views: Oceanfront Jr Suite 2nd FL has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible online. If not, email the host before booking the home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what is suitable for your vacation group.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
During your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- Record any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your peaceful home life. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would at home.
- Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on great ratings to inspire future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your review find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
